The plant is reported to be a prominent memory-improving drug. It is used as a psycho-stimulant and tranquillizer. A decoction of the plant is reported to be an aphrodisiac and to reduce mental tension. It is also used in the treatment of diabetes. The leaves are beneficial in haemoptysis, urinary diseases, calculi, fever, dyspnoea, cough and anorexia. A perennial herb with prostrate branches and small elliptic to oblong, lanceolate, obtuse, mucronate leaves, flowers mostly solitary in upper axils.
